Overcoming My Illnesses as a Teenager

Most of my teenage years was spent in and out of the hospital. At an early age, I became diagnosed with many invisible illnesses that changed my life forever. “Oh but you don’t look sick!”, they’d say. But in reality, I was far from healthy. 😷

I wasn’t able to work, go to school, or have a normal job...I knew I was ambitious and wanted to use my own hardships to help people...so I decided to create a job (with the help of my mom) that did just that.

Hours and days I’d spend writing and blogging, money never on my mind, only wanting to help others. People would call me a “lazy teen” for not having a “normal job” when it was truly never my fault. 🤨

That wasn’t an excuse to me. I wanted to prove them wrong by working hard and creating a business for myself, despite what anyone else thinks. I put in the work, the passion, and the time to create what HaleLife (previously GlutenAway) is now.

I didn’t listen to the negative comments that people said about me. Instead, I listened to myself and knew that only I had the power to determine my own happiness. I have the power to make my own decisions and do what’s right. I have the power to know who I am and know that I’m not what any negative person thinks.

After 6 years of that (I say like it was easy...believe me, it wasn’t), I now own HaleLife Bakery with my mom and run my marketing company each day.

At the end of the day, you are the one who has the ability to determine how you want to live your life. It doesn’t matter what anyone else says or thinks about you despite how you look on the outside. You know yourself better than anyone. So prove yourself right and prove everyone else wrong by doing what makes YOU happy no matter what. You deserve to be happy and you deserve to be who you want to be. Live your life with that mindset each day and at the very least you’ll have no regrets ❤️
