It’s so funny how bad I wanted to fit in and be like other people growing up.
I mean I was a teen who was ALWAYS sick so you bet I was trying hard not to be noticed. “I don’t want people looking at me for my illnesses” I’d always say. Why would any of us?
I stayed in my head so much about my health. I worried so much what people thought of me and how my life was so different from everyone else’s. Even my closest friends felt so distant because I knew they didn’t understand what I go through.
I spent more time worrying about how my health made me different than actually loving myself and WHAT MAKES ME DIFFERENT.
Why am I so worried what people think about my health when I have so much to explore, embrace, and discover about ME.
This is my life and that means this is MY path. I need to be embracing ALL of what makes me different because I’m my own person and I can’t let my health stunt my personal growth.
If you ever feel different due to being gluten-free, an invisible illness, or literally anything else in life, tell yourself this. Yes, it’s f*cking hard and it does make you different than other people, but that’s ok. Actually, that’s great. The best thing about that is that you don’t need to be like other people because you can be whatever amazing, badass motherf*cker you want to be. 💪🏼 This life is YOURS so just make sure you’re happy with the life you live.
