The Final Words in a Relationship Matter

The final words said to me in my relationships:

  1. “Your health is too much for me. I can’t date you anymore.”

  2. “There has to be someone else. I know you're cheating on me.” (I wasn’t)

  3. “I’ve been seeing someone else anyways. He’s better than you.”

  4. “I don’t want you to be happy. You don’t deserve that.”

These are just some of the things that have stuck with me. These are just some of the relationships that I’m quoting from. While I know I played part in these relationships, that doesn’t make these words any less difficult to deal with.

If I was in a relationship, that means I got to love them, know them, and be with them at their most vulnerable state...if that’s the case, then why would I ever want to hurt them? Why would they ever want to hurt me?

“Don’t leave a loving relationship with words that show the opposite of that.”

If someone you love(d) has left you with hurtful words, know that it doesn’t define you or the entire relationship. If you are someone who has said those hurtful words, know that it doesn’t define you either.

Those words were likely said out of high-emotion, anger, or sadness, but that doesn’t mean that’s how it should be remembered by.

Be kind, be careful with what you say, and always remember that there’s someone you once loved at the end of your words. ❤️
