I Don't Resent Being Sick All of My Teenage Years
I was always known as “the sick kid” in high school. I didn’t go to prom, I didn’t play sports, and I was even homeschooled my last 3 years after becoming so sick.
People ask me all the time, “do you wish you had a normal high school experience?” Well, absolutely. “Are you actually happy you spent most of your teenage years sick or in a hospital?” Of course not...but you know what, I’m not mad about it either.
I’m not resentful of all the experiences I missed due to my health. I can’t change that, but what I can do is acknowledge that I LET it make me stronger and I CHOOSE to appreciate the good days ahead.
At a young age, I quickly learned that we ALL go through adversities in life that make us struggle. We all have memories, experiences, and moments that make us want to quit at one point or another.
My message to you is this: Don’t quit. Whatever you’re going through with your health or anything else, don’t resent it. These adversities CAN make you stronger and they WILL make you more appreciative of the days ahead once you get through it. I learned this at the age of 14 years old, but I’m happy I’m still here to share my story with all of you and I hope you learn what I’ve learned too.
