A Voice For Those Who Have Experienced Sexual Abuse

It only takes person to change your life forever.

It’s hard to explain sexual abuse or sexual assault to someone who hasn’t gone through it before. All I can say is that you change.

You change how you let people in. You change how you express yourself. You change how you experience the world. That change is forever.

So many people take this life changing experience with them to their grave, bearing that burden, never telling a soul.

1 in 5 girls/women have been a victim of sexual abuse.⠀ 1 in 6 boys/men have been a victim of sexual abuse.

I am one of these statistics, but I am more than that. I am a life forever changed by this experience. I am a life who has become MORE than this experience by being open about it and taking ownership in MY life. I won’t allow my abuser to let this experience control my life any more because he does not have the power. I do.

If you’ve experienced any sort of assault or abuse, I understand. We become stronger together and I want you to know you do have the power to take control of your life too.

Additionally: It has taken me years of work to build up to the point of finding my voice, but now that I've found it, I won't be silent. No child deserves to be taken advantage of in any way. No man or women deserves to feel alone on this throughout their life. I have found my voice and I'm going to make sure that all of us who have suffered through this abuse will be heard too.
