I've Struggled to Be Who I Am

I’ve struggled to be who I am.

I’ve shifted things about myself to better suit people that I meet. That’s not healthy.

Should I stop doing something I love because someone else doesn’t like it? Should I stop discovering who I am because I’m worried what people will think about my change? No, but I did.

This is me:

  • I’m pansexual (yes, I said bisexual before, but that’s just a label. If I connect with you, then I don’t care what your body is.)⠀

  • Dancing is my favorite way to express myself.⠀

  • I’m super talented at marketing.⠀

  • I’m a Star Wars nerd.⠀

  • I want to visit every National Park. (and I will)⠀

  • I'm always happy to work on myself.⠀

  • I’m open to almost any and every experience.⠀

  • I love learning about each person’s individual journey.⠀

  • I love cooking food for myself and people.⠀

  • I’m so comfortable expressing my emotions.⠀

  • I am just as extroverted as I am introverted.⠀

  • I truly want everyone to be happy.⠀

  • I have a lot to be proud of.

Last year and many years before it, I was actually happier alone than I was around most people in my life. No one forced me to think this way. No one told me not to be who I am. That was all me, afraid to express who I am.

These past few months, I’ve worked on expressing everything I said above. Being me, expressing me, discovering me…and god, I’ve been so much happier with ME. If people don’t align with who I am, that’s fine! There is a whole world full of other people who will.

The point is, there are so many people in this world to relate to. No one is alone and everyone has a story to connect over. No matter how alone you may feel about any particular thing in your life, good or bad, somebody understands. Finding those people who do understand all starts with you…being you. ❤️⠀
